What WebMD.com Experts Say
Webmd is one of the most recognized medical sites on the Internet.
Recently the Webmd experts researched and tested mineral makeup brand products to determine what problems or not they caused to the skin.
The physician findings on mineral makeup included the fact that mineral makeup with talc, mica, bismuth oxychloride. The main study concluded that mineral foundations with any of the above ingredients or they synonyms is detrimental to the health of your skin and is known to cause very harsh cystic acne breakouts as well as other problems.
There are just a few mineral makeup companies that don’t use bismuth or any of the other above mentioned mineral makeup ingredients in their products. You can find a listing of these mineral makeup brands by searching the terms I.E. “Bismuth Free Mineral Makeup” Or another form is “Matte Mineral Makeup”. Please remember however that not all matte mineral makeup products are mica or talc free as both of these ingredients can be in a matte form.
Also Sericite is not a mica per say though it is a natural element sustrate and dependant upon where mineral makeup companies are purchasing their sericite it will have other natural mineral ingredients.
Please note: Minerals is a term not a makeup, so please check each companies INCI listing for ingredients prior to purchasing and any company that doesn’t know what an INCI is you should not purchase from them as they are not abiding by the FDA.gov’s Cosmetic And Toiletries guidelines.
MSDS website listings are for trademarked products and not for general ingredient terms I.E. Sericite is one that the MSDS site has caused confusion for mineral makeup purchasers and mineral makeup company owners that don’t factually know what their INCI means per ingredient.
All in all you’re better to stick with a real private label mineral makeup company manufacturing their own products for your own health and safety.
